Jason Statham Action Movie Knocks Snow White Off Top Spot!

In glorious news for any true movie fan, Jason Statham’s action thriller A Working Man has landed a killer blow at the box-office this weekend, toppling the atrocious Snow White off the top spot in the process. The movie, which is another team up between director David Ayer and Jason Statham, following on from the successful The Beekeeper from last year, made $15.2 million over it’s opening weekend.

When Is Jason Statham's 'A Working Man' Coming To Streaming?

Snow White, on the other hand suffered the ill-effects of poisoned apples, and poisonous personalities (*cough* Rachel Zegler *cough*) and dropped off a massive 70% from last week. The fact that it earned only $47 million in its opening weekend, off a reported budget of $270 million, and a paltry $14.2 million this week, should make Disney reconsider its release strategy. It won’t though. The mouse house still has a ton of “live-action” remakes, re-imaginings, re-whatever, on its release slate. So, yeah, expect to see more uninspired fully animated “live-action” snooze-fests like the pointless Mufasa, plus the hideous prospect of seeing Moana and Tangled get the Disney re-brand. Oh dear.

Snow White Review: Princess Charming

Thankfully we have decent action movies such as A Working Man to prove that it all it takes is some basic storytelling, and a kick-ass action star, to show the likes of Snow White how to really whistle while you work. The Beekeeper was a box-office success, and proves that Statham’s partnership with David Ayer looks like a winning combo, plus the fact that he seems to have a very loyal fan-base who continue to pack out theaters for his movies. Weird huh Miss Zegler? Weird!
